The objective of Catego dice game is to score maximum points by winning categories numbered from 2 through 12. The game (designed by Reiner Knizia) is played with 2 six-sided dice.
No Of Players: 2 to 4
Setup:
2 dice and a score sheet (as below).
Catego Dice Game Play:
The scorecard in the game consists of 11 columns from 2 through 12 which are to be won by the players. Each player rolls two dice and then records sum of dice values against a column. This value has no relation with the column number so any sum value can be recorded against any column. Players take turn clockwise to do the same. Once 11 rounds are over and all players have recorded values against each of the eleven columns, the winner of each column is decided which is the player recording maximum value for a column. Its similar to bidding for a column to win it.
If a column has same values recorded by two or more players then that column is not won by any player.
The final score of each player is the total of all column values won by the player. Each column value is same as its number so column 2 has the lowest points and 12 has the highest points which can be won.
The player with the highest final score wins the game.
