The aim of Martha Solitaire is to build all four suits up from ace to king using a standard 52-card deck.
At the beginning all 4 aces are removed from the deck and placed on the 4 foundations which is to be built up by suit.
Remaining 48 cards are dealt into 12 piles, four cards in each pile.
In each pile top card (4th) and second card are placed face up and remaining 2 cards are placed face down.
On the tableau (piles), cards are built down by alternate colors.
The top card of a pile or a sequence of cards can be played to another pile.
Only the top card of a pile can be played to a foundation.
An empty pile can be filled with any card but a sequence can not be placed on it.
Sequences can be played only between non-empty piles.
